Don't forget to wash off that Nuclear fallout dust
My wife developed a case of Poison Ivy while working in the yard a week ago.
Looking for relief she went to the drug store and came home with a variety of products. It appears they've come a long way since Calamine lotion.
I didn't pay much attention to the stuff she bought, fortunately I've never had much of a reaction to the greasy three-leafed plant.
But while in the bathroom this morning I noticed a box in the medicine cabinet for a poison ivy relief product call Tecnu. Printed on the side of the box was this description:
The first Tec Labs product was Tecnu®. Dr. Robert Smith, a chemical engineer, developed Tecnu in the early 1960s during the cold war years. The wash was originally intended as a waterless cleanser to remove nuclear fallout dust from skin and clothing for families' personal bomb shelters. Dr. Smith named the product Tecnu to stand for "technically new".
Nice.
I guess you can put this stuff in your survival kit along with all that duct tape and plastic to cover your windows. I imagine it will have about the same affect.
'til they bring back the duck and cover drill.
Keep the Adventure Alive,
Tom Calhoun
