The GI Joe Adventure Team Today

For those of us that collect toys, one thing happens as we age in the hobby. We tend to look at the toys we played with as children a little differently.

In other words those toys age along with us. The action figures that were young men 35 years ago have added a little grey hair.

A few years ago Tod Pleasant, Dave Pisani, Doug Fakkel and John Ellingwood created a 30th Anniversary tribute to the GI Joe Adventure Team. It was displayed at the annual GI Joe convention. It didn't win the diorama prize because judging for that contest has always been biased against anything Adventure Team. I took a ton of pictures of that display, but I can't find them at the moment (dang digital files).

So here's a small one. It's an animated gif, so look through the window for different views.

More recently Dan DiBiase created a version of the Adventure Team for a photostory he has planned. Dan's vision also ages the Men in Fuzz to a point closer to our current age.

After checking out these photos, take time to visit Todd and Dave's Regular Joes and Dan DiBiase's Deering Productions. These guys do some great work, creating sets, taking photos and building props. They primarily do it for the love of the hobby with little or no financial reward. When you see a donation box, drop some change in before you leave. It's a nice way of saying thanks and it helps keeps the cool stuff coming.

'til all those guys are "discovered"

Keep the Adventure Alive,
