As a comics and art fan you can't do much better than Jill Thompson. Her beautiful water colors are stunning and she might just be the best artist in comics at the moment. As a bonus she's just a great person. Whether you are lucky enough to meet her at a con, or you just follow her on Twitter, her charm is undeniable.
You might know Jill from her work with Neil Gaiman on The Sandman or possibly through the Beasts of Burden series published by Dark Horse.
Jill's greatest creation is arguably her original character, Scary Godmother. These stories were not only printed in a series of comics, but were the subject of two Halloween specials that replay yearly on Cartoon Network.
Now Jill is hoping to produce Scary Godmother as a doll. To do that she has a Kickstarter which will fund the original run of the dolls. There are tons of great incentives including the doll, original art, and even a chance to be on Jill's Christmas card list.
I've participated in a lot of Kickstarter projects, but this one might be the coolest yet. I highly encourage you to hop over to Jill's page and check it out. While you're at it, sign up and contribute. Let's get Scary Godmother for real!
'til we get all of the Scary Godmother characters produced!
