KISS - Beth

This February Record of the Week is from KISS, and since we're attempting to tie all the songs  in to love month we went with "Beth", Peter's love song to his wife Lydia. 

Of course as the story goes the song was written long before KISS even existed, and the original title was "Beck" which wasn't about Lydia at all, but hey, the story sounds better if it's about Peter's former wife.

Ace Frehley Doesn't Go Country

My post on Gene Simmons brought back memories of this classic bit of KISS history.

The infamous Tom Snyder interview. At this point in their history Gene Simmons was trying hard to push his Super KISS image. All of his responses are very serious. Ace on the other hands mocks everything Gene is trying to sell, including the garish Dynasty era costumes.

Though the entire interview is 45 minutes long, this one minute clip gives you a good idea of what went on.

For once, Gene and Paul don't dominate the proceedings. A slightly tipsy Ace Frehley steals the show in one of the best rock interviews of all time.

For more fun play the entire 45 minutes. Watch in part 2 as Ace puts his costume on a Teddy Bear and listen a couple of minutes later (2:41) as Paul (through clenched teeth) tells him "Please put the bear down". Then watch as Gene slowly loses his cool.

Gene Simmons Goes Country?

iTunes is notorious for putting incorrect info on the site and never fixing it, even if you point out the goof.

I've seen numerous misspellings, incorrectly identified songs and artists, even entire albums where the band is listed as "various".

The following has got to be my favorite though.

Apparently iTunes has a prankster, or the moron that put this up truly does not know the difference between 60's country music star Jumpin' Gene Simmons and Kiss member Gene "The Demon" Simmons.

Despite protests from fans of KISS, this album remains on the site exactly as it was first posted almost six months ago.
