Another Record of the Week Mid-Week Bonus
The Detonators is one of those bands I saw at The Milestone Club during the height of the New Wave era in the early eighties. They were a fun English band that got the crowd moving and looked to have enough to make a run for the big time, but alas it was not to be. I can find almost nothing on this band today, or its members, other than one lone mention on a page for Irish and New Wave Punk. That page mentions this EP, but contains no photos or info on the band.
This 45, on Big Blast Records, is very reminiscent of the records bands sold at Merch Tables in the late seventies and early eighties. I love how the B-Side of the record is blank. Seriously indie stuff there.
The EP Features four songs: Don't Talk, Opening a Modern Art, Restless Kids and Passé
The Detonators:
Pat Byars - Guitar, Keyboards, Vocals
Lane Pettigrew - Lead Vocals
Brad Worden - Guitar, Vocals
Jeff Finlin - Drums
Here's Opening A Modern Art from the EP:

If you know any of those guys, please send me an update, I'd like to know where they ended up.
Check the comments. I found them, or more accurately they found me.

Keep the Adventure Alive,
Thanks for stopping by Pat and filling me in on the history. I had no idea you were from SC. Let me know when you get the record done, I'd love to hear it!

Thanks for putting this up! We made this record in the early 80's The band was from South Carolina, & we played several times in Charlotte at the Milestones club, & many other clubs from Florida to North Carolina, etc. I'm living in Atlanta now still playing music, just recently found out that Brad (Bob Worden) is also living in the area & we are making a new record. Jeff Finlin is a singer/songwriter living in Colorado and has made several great records, see youtube, etc...Thanks Pat Byars

Amazing. I was hoping this would get a hit from one of the band members, or someone that knew them.
Thanks for the post! Rock on Detonators!
