The video was filmed at 5 locations on July 11th and July 26th in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Though the original idea behind the song is a love song with a happy ending, once the script ideas started flowing the story took a decidedly different turn.
Special kudos to Josie, Davis, and Lauren who all make their acting debut in the video. They put up with nearly two full days of shooting and dealt with rain, heat, and numerous takes of each scene.
Yours truly donated cash to feed the actors and crew, and helped carry the couch into the field :)
Last but not least, thanks to the Charlotte School of Rock, who in addition to molding these kids into fine musicians, also teaches them a lot about teamwork, life, and friendship.
Stay tuned. We hear there are some behind the scenes photos and outakes coming soon.
'til the next video shoot (maybe I'll get invited along to that one)
Da Doo Ron Ron / I Wanna Be Sedated is the bonus track from the new Dollyrots album, Barefoot and Pregnant. It's a great punky mashup of the Crystal's classic, melded to one of the Ramones signature songs.
I'm particularly fond of this track, not only because I love the Ramones, but because we were there during part of the recording sessions and got to contribute some cool "Yeahs and Ba Bamps!" to the track. I always wanted to be a Ramone.
The bonus track isn't available on iTunes, but you can get it FREE by downloading it from NoiseTrade.
Just click the link below, listen, and download the song.
This is a pretty unique Record of the Week. It's actually a song about my wife and I.
Anarchy and Disney is a song included on the acoustic album recorded alongside The Dollyrots fourth self-titled album. The title of the acoustic album is "Love Songs, Werewolves, and Zombies".
I don't usually feature digital tracks, but the cool thing is we have a physical release coming this spring. I wanted something to hand out to family and friends, so there will be a flexi-disc release and we're going to give them away. Stay tuned.
We continue our Christmas Record of the Week with our first Zombie Christmas Carol, I Saw Mommy Biting Santa Claus by The Dollyrots. It's a really fun spin on the classic song with a zombie twist to it.
One of the coolest things about this track is the song is a companion to the book by Matt Mogk and Chad Lewis, so you can grab the book and read along while you listen.
Get a great preview of the book by watching the video below.
You can find both the book and a free download of the song on The Dollyrots web page and you can also order the book via Amazon.

'til they feature this on the Walking Dead Christmas episode
Like with their last album, The Dollyrots are making their new record along with their fans. This time they've teamed with Pledge Music for the pre-orders and hopefully to catch all the fans that missed out on the fun last time.
There are tons off cool incentives, so click the image, pledge along with us, and join in on the updates from Luis, Kelly, Quito and the rest of The Dollyrots team.
The latest single from The Dollyrots self titled album is Twist Me to the Left. This video was produced by Built By Ninjas, the video production company that includes the multi-talented frontman of Bowling for Soup, Jaret Reddick.
We have to say this might be the best Dollyrots video ever.
This Record of the Week is a little different. It's a musical love letter to my wife and Disney Girl, performed by the awesome Kelly Ogden and Luis Cabezas - The Dollyrots.
This is our favorite new song. It features Jaret Reddick of Bowling for Soup and Kelly Ogden of The Dollyrots. It might be the greatest Punk "Love Song" ever.
It's from the One Big Happy album which is a really cool split with songs by Bowling for Soup, The Dollyrots, and Patent Pending. Highly recommended.
Watch, listen, and buy it.
Jaret Reddick and Kelly Ogden - "Love ya Love ya Love ya"
The 7" contains holiday tracks from The Dollyrots (Santa Baby), Girl in a Coma (Blue Christmas), and the oft-issued Little Drummer Boy by Joan Jett and the Blackhearts.
We were pretty excited to find this because we thought we had managed to collect all The Dollyrots on vinyl, so to find something we hadn't seen was a nice Christmas surprise.
You can still get a copy of the Blackheart Christmas LP on vinyl, but this 7" seems to be a pretty tough record to get your hands on.

Here's The Dollyrots with a Brand New Christmas song:
'til Blackheart issues The Dollyrots Because I'm Awesome on Vinyl
Since we're in October, and I've done nothing from Halloween, I thought I'd post this Gem.
This is "Out of LA" from the Dollyrots album Because I'm Awesome. It was also included on the soundtrack from the manga "I Luv Halloween", hence its inclusion here.
Compilation albums can be hit and miss, and we'll often buy them for just a handful of songs, but this one is the exception to the rule.
"Have a Crappy Summer" comes from the Crappy Records label which is a label that was created by Linus of Hollywood and Jaret Reddick. Jaret is of course the front man for Bowling for Soup and he may be the hardest working man in music.
Crappy Records - Have a Crappy Summer
I picked up this record because we wanted the new tracks from BFS, The Dollyrots, Linus of Hollywood (with Brett Anderson of the Donnas) and People on Vacation.
I was pleasantly surprised on my first play-through when I loved every song included.
Just a few Highlights:
Summer Fling - Linus of Hollywood and Brett Anderson (The Donnas lead vocalist)
This is an amazing track. Kudos to Linus for including Brett on this duet. It's a perfect summer pop song and Linus and Brett sound great together.
Super Mega Ultraviolet - The Dollyrots
Anyone that follows this blog knows we love The Dollyrots. This is a great rockin' song with super cool lyrics. It's also the first track that Alicia Warrington takes over on the drums from Chris Black.
Malibu Classic - Erik Chandler
I've been fortunate enough to see one of Erik's solo shows while he was living in Columbia, South Carolina. I knew his solo stuff was going to be good, but this blew me away. This has hit written all over it, and in a real world where radio played good songs, not just mass-produced schlock, this would be a smash.
Summer Camp Love (It's so in Tents) - MC Lars
I don't like rap, that's pretty well established. Despite that, MC Lars hooked me with this tune. It's a fun look at love while away at summer camp, and might just bring back some pretty good memories for ya. A lot of rap has a real negative vibe, but this is bright, sunny, and extremely positive. It also sent me looking for other songs by MC Lars. That's the sign of a good comp. Nice background vocals from Linus and Jaret.
Why's it so Hot? - Jarinus
A project from Jaret Reddick and Linus of Hollywood. I supported the Kickstarter for their first CD, and I've heard the songs they posted on Soundcloud, but I still wasn't prepared for how great this song would be. It's a kick-ass rock song with a touch of humor thrown in that you should play with the volume all the way up while you cruise the beach this summer. After this I absolutely can't wait for the Jarinus CD to be released. Nice bonus is a ripping guitar solo from Paul Gilbert of Mr. Big. Linus and Jaret have some amazing friends.
I can't recommend this CD enough. Head over to the Crappy Records website and GET THIS NOW!
To see how the cover art was created check out the blog from artist Steven Ray Brown. Steven also did the art for Bowling for Soup's "Fishing for Woos" album.
